ABN is poised to play a major role in the development of a
robust and independent commercial television industry across
sub-Saharan Africa.
The goal is to build on its current audience reach of an estimate
of 20 million viewers in Ghana and Nigeria. ABN has plans
to secure within three years, the loyalty of 200 million viewers
in Anglophone, Francophone, and Lusophone sub-Saharan Africa.
The network will provide more than entertainment.
Via its not-for-profit affiliate - the African Public Broadcasting
Foundation - ABN will source and distribute relevant educational
and public service programming. This will ensure ABNs
proactive engagement in the dissemination of effective development-enhancing
knowledge.
ABNs ultimate commercial goal is to become a premier
producer and distributor of exciting new African-originated
entertainment and educational programmes that reflect
and reinforce indigenous cultures in all their creative
diversity.
ABN is supported by broadcasters throughout
sub-Saharan Africa, and by a wide range of international organisations
involved in the continents development.
